Professor Li Jiange, Chairman of the Academic Committee of the Hong Kong Academy for Industry and Innovation (HKAII), Leads a Research Team on a Visit to Xiamen

From September 4 to 5, the Hong Kong Academy for Industry and Innovation (HKAII), led by Professor Li Jiange, Chairman of its Academic Committee, conducted an in-depth research visit to Xiamen, engaging in extensive exchanges with several local renowned enterprises, banks, and research institutions. Members of the research team included Lyu Benfu, Vice President of the China Institute for Innovation & Development and Senior Research Fellow of HKAII; Zhang Yabo, Chairman of Sanhua Intelligent Controls; Ran Chang, Managing Partner of SMIC Private Equity; and Ge Jun, President of HKAII, among others. The purpose of this research visit was to strengthen industry-academia-research exchanges, explore opportunities for industrial innovation cooperation, and promote collaborative development in relevant fields.

On the noon of September 4, the research team made its first stop at Xiangyu Group, where they had in-depth discussions with Deng Qidong, General Manager of the Group, and his team. As a large diversified enterprise group, Xiangyu Group has achieved remarkable results in supply chain management and bulk commodity trading. Both parties exchanged views on industry development trends, innovative supply chain models, and future cooperation directions.

 

 

Subsequently, the research team visited Xiamen International Bank, focusing on understanding the application of financial technology in banking operations and the bank's innovative initiatives in serving the real economy. The team members held in-depth discussions with the bank's management on issues such as financial market trends, financial innovation, and risk prevention and control.

 

 

On the morning of September 5, the research team visited the headquarters of Zijin Mining Group. As a globally renowned mining enterprise, Zijin Mining has attracted widespread attention for its achievements in resource exploration and mining technology innovation. During the research, Chairman Chen Jinghe fondly reviewed the company's entrepreneurial history and international development process, and exchanged views with the research team on topics such as sustainable development of mineral resource exploitation, application of cutting-edge technologies, and risk prevention and control in international operations.

 

 

Next, the research team visited Xiamen C&D Group, where Chairman Xu Xiaoxi warmly received Professor Li Jiange and his entourage. As the largest comprehensive enterprise in Fujian Province, C&D Group's successful experience in global supply chain operations, mother fund management, and digital business operations—especially its diversified business model—attracted the attention of the research team. Both parties exchanged insights on corporate diversified development strategies and innovative management models.

 

 

On the noon of the same day, the research team went to Xiamen University and had in-depth exchanges with Professor Lin Boqiang's team from the China Institute for Energy Policy. Professor Lin Boqiang provided detailed interpretations and discussions on topics such as energy development trends, the coordinated ratio of traditional and new energy sources, and the country's "dual-carbon" goals.

 

 

On the afternoon of September 5, the research team visited Xiamen ITG Holding Group. After learning about the company's development history, Chairman Zheng Yongda and his team had in-depth exchanges with the research team on macroeconomic trends, financial services, and diversified operations.

 

 

During the research visit, the team also held work discussions with key officials from the Fujian Provincial Department of Commerce, the Xiamen Branch of the People's Bank of China, as well as private enterprise representatives such as Zhou Shaoming, Vice Chairman of Septwolves Industry Co., Ltd. Additionally, they visited the Overseas Chinese Museum and the Wang Yannan Memorial Hall.

This research visit to Xiamen has effectively strengthened the ties between HKAII and local enterprises and research institutions in Xiamen, laying a solid foundation for future cooperation in industrial innovation, financial services, energy technology, and other fields. Going forward, the Academy will continue to organize such research activities to promote in-depth integration of industry, academia, and research, and contribute to the development of industrial innovation.
